Deputy Chief Tom Clemo


Deputy Chief Tom Clemo oversees the Administrative functions of the Fire Department which involves budget
preparation/management, and professional standards review/administration.

Deputy Chief Tom Clemo is the oldest of five children and was born and raised in Long Beach, California.
His passion for leadership, commitment to family and passion for the fire service has provided him phenomenal
opportunities over his past 25 years in the California and Oregon Fire Service.

Prior to his appointment at Santa Monica, Deputy Chief Clemo was the Incident Commander for the Oregon State
Fire Marshals Green Type II Incident Management Team, where he previously served as the Planning Section Chief.
In addition, Deputy Chief Clemo served as the Division Chief of Operations for Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue (TVF&R).
He holds an Associates of Science in Fire Technology from Rancho Santiago College, Bachelor’s degrees in Fire Service
Administration from Western Oregon University and Political Science from University of California Santa Cruz as
well as a Master of Public Administration from Portland State University. Tom is also a graduate of the National Fire
Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program and a Chief Fire Officer Designee.
